Chickenpox at 48. My son brought it home from school and I never had it as a child.
My 16 year old came back from school on Monday with a fever and by Wednesday the spots had started. Doctor confirmed chickenpox. He is at home, itching, bored, and on paracetamol and calamine. The problem is me. I grew up in a village and my mother is certain I never had chickenpox as a child, and there was no vaccine for it back then. I am 48. Everything I read says it is much harder on adults than on children, and I have already spent three days in the same house as him before we knew. Is there anything an adult can still do at this stage, or is it simply wait and watch for two weeks? My wife had it as a child so she is not worried about herself. Has anyone here caught it as an adult from their kids? How bad was it really?
