HbA1c came down from 8.9 to 7.2 in four months. Sharing what my doctor asked me to change.

Dear all, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in May this year at the age of 52. My HbA1c was 8.9 and my doctor was quite firm with me. Sharing what has worked in case it helps anyone newly diagnosed. 1. Rice only once a day, and half of what I was eating. Poha in the morning was replaced by moong chilla or eggs. 2. A 40 minute walk after dinner, every day, no excuses. Even when there are guests at home. 3. No sweets except on festival days, and even then only one piece. Diwali was a test. 4. Medicines exactly on time. I set an alarm on my phone. Last week the report showed 7.2. Doctor is happy but says the target is below 7. I am not sharing this to boast, only to say that it is possible with boring, consistent changes. Happy to answer questions. Regards.
