Is it worth testing for COVID any more, or does it not change anything?

It changes less than it did but not nothing. Testing is worth it in three situations: if you live with or will visit someone at high risk, so you can time contact; if you might be eligible for antiviral treatment, which is time-sensitive and needs confirmation early; and if you need to distinguish it from something else that would be treated differently, like influenza or a bacterial infection. For an otherwise healthy adult with mild symptoms and no vulnerable contacts, the practical advice — stay home while unwell — is the same either way.

Reasonable framing. It stopped being a moral question and became a practical one.

The antiviral eligibility window is the one people miss. By the time they test it is often too late to matter.
