What is the realistic way to reduce sugar without giving it up entirely?

Target the sources you barely notice rather than the ones you enjoy. In most Indian diets the invisible sugar is in chai and coffee taken several times a day, packaged biscuits and namkeen, bottled drinks and juices, and breakfast cereals marketed as healthy. Reducing sugar in tea gradually over a few weeks works better than stopping at once, since taste adapts. Sweetened drinks are the highest-yield single target because they add substantially without any satiety. Keeping desserts as a deliberate occasional thing rather than a daily default preserves enjoyment while removing most of the total.

Packaged juice being worse than most people assume is worth stating. It is marketed as the healthy option.

Reducing tea sugar gradually genuinely works. I went from two spoons to none over two months and do not miss it.
